This large generative and interactive work forms an entrance to Signify Lighting Design (formerly Philips Lighting Design). By mounting almost 6000 front and rear-facing LEDs and six-channel ambisonic audio, we were able to create a versatile canvas for expression.
The installation can work in a variety of modes. For example it can react to audio input to create real time music visualisations, or generate continuous light and sound ambiences. And when people walk up to the wall, it transforms into an interactive musical instrument.
Ambient light and audio content is provided by custom software developed by Abstract Interactive that transforms videos into non-repeating ambient textures.
Source audio material was recorded in New Zealand by Thomas Voyce.
